While it is true that one of the Pypes test vehicles was pulled over on a country road, the local police department had graciously accepted a part in their pre-planned act of harmless juvenile-ism. (See more pics here). The good news is that, with a wide range of Pypes products available for your consideration, you have the opportunity to give the local police department plenty of sound and performance incentive to take your money! Upgrading the exhaust components is one of the first bolt-on upgrades we do as car enthusiasts. We want our cars meaner and louder. And if we’re lucky, more powerful, too. That’s why company’s like Pypes Performance Exhaust makes components – so we can have all three of those. Pypes offers many different exhaust components, it has several cat-back and axle-back exhausts to choose from, as well as different style mufflers and resonators.
Pypes also has a variety of long tube and shorty headers available, too. However, today we’re going to talk about one of (if not) our favorite cat-back exhausts, which is the Super System Cat Back Exhaust for the ’05-’14 S197 Mustang GT. In the video above, Pypes has showcased an audio clip for the Super System cat back exhaust specific to the ’11-’14 GT model, which can be found on its website under part number SFM76M. If you’re looking for the Super System cat-back exhaust for your ’05-’10 GT, you’ll need part number SFM66M.
One of the reasons we’re fans of Pypes exhaust systems in general however, is because all of the components are made of either 409 or 304-grade stainless steel and are mandrel bent. Both grades of stainless steel are high quality material which has the ability to resist corrosion over time, expanding the life of the exhaust.
Pypes M80 resonators are incorporated on the Super System cat-back exhaust. They're 14-inch in length and are available in either 2.5-inch or 3-inch diameter sizes, depending on your application. This cat back exhaust is recommended whether you use your Mustang for street or track use, as it is a straight-through design that offers optimal performance.
Pypes axle-back and cat-back systems also feature 2.5-inch and 3-inch diameter exhaust tubing depending on your model choice, so apart from the obvious improvement in sound, you can expect an increase in horsepower capability as well.
The Pypes Super System combines the Pypes axle-back (Pype Bomb part number SFM60MS) and cat-back exhaust (Mid Muffler part number SFM66). This system is designed to help highly modified cars, like those running forced induction breathe with maximum efficiency. The sound of the Pype Bomb 4-inch resonated tips combined with the race inspired M80 mufflers makes for a very aggressive and unmistakable tone for the ’05-’14 Mustang GT.
“The idea of the Super System Cat Back Exhaust was designed to be installed on higher-horsepower Mustangs, giving the car a great muscle car tone without the obnoxious raspy-ness from alternative systems you hear. When combining our long tube headers, off road X pipe, and Super System exhaust, you achieve superior flow characteristics and increase horsepower, while retaining stock-like drivability,” Chris Casperson of Pypes told us.
