It’s fair to say, Peter Murphy is someone that all of us at OneDirt.com look up to. From his success as a racer, into one of dirt track racing’s true ambassadors of the sport, to his recent title, Track Owner.

We were lucky enough to get Murphy’s career and philosophy last year in our exclusive interview: Interview With Peter Murphy.

While the interview was exciting, we were over-the-moon when the recent press release from Keller Auto Speedway proclaimed Murphy as the new owner of the legendary track.

On January 24, 2020, Peter Murphy took ownership of the renowned Kings County Fairgrounds facility. The ownership change became official after the fair board met and discussed the ownership change.

Following the meeting, the fair board announced PMR would take over the reins from the departing Morse Racing Promotions.

“We weren’t looking to sell but there were some rumors that Peter was interested in running a track” MRP promoter Brandon “Bubby” Morse said.  “Peter has put in the time, effort and is universally loved by the racing community, he will do a great job”

Morse added. “We wanted to make sure it was going to go to a quality guy like Pete.”

To ensure a smooth transition, Morse has committed to assisting during the 2020 season if needed. The MRP team also thanked the fans and drivers that have blessed them over the past 4 years. “You will still see us from time to time, just as fans this time,” Corey Morse said. The MRP team also thanked the long-time main sponsors Keller Motors and Bueno Beverage.

“I am just excited about this opportunity to run a great track as Hanford” Peter Murphy said. “My juices get flowing every year when the Peter Murphy Classic comes around. I am ready to take the next step and be just like Trump, I want to make racing great again!” he added.

The Keller Auto Speedway opens up its 2020 season in just less than a month on February 22nd. On the card are the Kings of Thunder 360s, Western Racesavers, and IMCA A Modifieds.

More details are expected in the next couple of weeks.
