Motorsport Safety Foundation, MOMO, And SCCA To Award $20K In Prizes

As most amateur racers spend most of their racing budget getting to and from the track, renting out a meager hotel room, and flapjacks at the local diner, sometimes getting the best in safety equipment seems like a stretch. To help ensure the legions of weekend warriors stay safe and continue to race in comfort, the Motorsport Safety Foundation has partnered with leading racing safety equipment company, MOMO, to assist the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) in promoting driver safety throughout the 2018 race season.

Chosen racers participating in the last seven events of the 2018 Hoosier Super Tour races will be awarded certificates for SFI and FIA-approved MOMO suits, helmets, and boots at the discretion of the SCCA Chiefs of Tech. Courtesy of the Motorsport Safety Foundation, these certificates amount to a value of $20,000.

“Many racers dedicate their resources around what makes the car go fast, but we all know that the most important factor in winning races is the driver,” said Scot Elkins, chief operating officer of the Motorsport Safety Foundation. “With the right safety gear, a driver performs at their peak. That is why we are excited to partner with MOMO, the leading brand in motorsports performance and safety, in our program supporting SCCA driver safety.”

“Having fun with cars is what SCCA Road Racing is all about, and doing that as safely as possible is our priority,” said Deanna Flanagan, SCCA’s director of Road Racing. “We’re thrilled that the Motorsport Safety Foundation and MOMO share our commitment to protecting drivers while behind the wheel. With their generous support, our SCCA Event Tech Inspectors will be able to help drivers continue to realize their passion with safe race gear.”

Racing safe is racing intelligently. To ensure a long and fruitful career, having high standards with safety gear is a must. However, quality equipment costs money—and this alliance between the motorsport giants helps the weekend warrior trade paint a little more comfortably.
