Bryce Menzies Wins Vegas To Reno, First To Win In AWD Trophy Truck

With today’s technology, anything is possible and Bryce Menzies proved just that at this year’s Best in the Desert (BITD) Vegas to Reno race. There were plenty of first in this past weeks event and that goes further than taking the overall win at the race. Menzies started the race first as the fastest qualifier, he finished the race more than eight and half minutes faster than the second-place finisher, and he was the first person to win in an AWD Trophy Truck.

The race this year was a hot one as a heatwave wreaked havoc on the Southwest United States. The race started outside the remote town of Beatty, Nevada before it paralleled the Nevada Test Site and then crisscrossed State Hwy 95 before arriving near the town of Dayton, Nevada which is on the outskirts of Reno.

“This win has been a long time coming and it feels even better than I imagined,” said Menzies. “To finally put the truck my Dad and I dreamed up together on the top spot and to validate the AWD system feels extra nice. I couldn’t be more stoked to continue Toyo’s win streak and have some momentum going into next month’s SCORE Baja 400.”

This win was also the first win for Menzies as a member of Team Toyo. Menzies’ truck relied on Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires to help achieve his overall win in the Vegas to Reno race.

“Toyo Tires congratulates Bryce Menzies on his dominant victory this weekend in the Vegas to Reno off-road race,” said Stan Chen, sr. manager of events and sponsorships, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. “It represents his first-ever win while representing Toyo Tires and will certainly not be his last. We look forward to his success while competing on Toyo Open Country M/T-R tires.”

AWD Trophy Trucks aren’t new and have seen plenty of action in the dirt this year from a wide range of manufacturers. This win was great for the sport and for the new wave of trucks. It is just a matter of time before all the top teams have an AWD truck of their own.

Up next in the BITD series is the Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic October 10th to 13th in Laughlin, Nevada. For the full list of events be sure to visit the BITD website.
