Ziff Hudson’s 1990 Ford Mustang set records and laid down some impressive passes in several different classes. While the Mustang was fast, it struggled to be consistent, so Hudson decided it was time for a change. Hudson’s replacement for his beautiful Mustang is a stunning new C7 Corvette that’s ready to shake up the Pro 275 class.

The “stock appearing race car” was built by Teddy Houser Race Cars and features a slew of top-shelf parts, including shocks and struts from Menscer Motorsports. Hudson is using the same TKM Performance big-inch small-block engine from the Mustang to power the Corvette. The Corvette’s mighty small-block gets its boost from a 140mm Harts Turbo turbocharger that works with a set of Turbosmart electronic wastegates. A Rossler three-speed transmission has been matched to a lock-up converter and M&M Transmission shifter. Hudson controls the engine with a FuelTech FT600 engine management system.

A small block engine with such a large turbo and electronic wastegates is a new combination. Hudson’s goal with this setup is to achieve a new level of power management for a turbo combination. This build was designed to put up better numbers on the front half of the track and allow Hudson to match the nitrous and blower cars stride for stride.

Hudson took his Corvette to the FuelTech USA headquarters recently for a dyno session. The small-block unleashed a staggering 4,062 horsepower on the hub dyno after some small tweaks. Hudson’s plan includes potentially no-time racing the Corvette some before the Bama Outlaws event in September.
