What happens when two engineers purchase a 1969 Cadillac Coupe DeVille for $800? Well, if you guessed turning said Cadillac into the world’s fastest hot tub, then you’re either psychic or have seen this video before. TV posted a great video documenting the build process behind the Cadillac turned hot tub on YouTube.

Starting with what was likely a Craigslist find, the duo stripped the interior and began strengthening the car for the added weight of the water. With a gallon of water weighing in at 8.34 pounds, it is safe to say that the Caddy needed some additional support. Although no specifics were provided about how many gallons this beast holds, the guys decided to reinforce the frame to support the additional load.

After removing the interior, a wood structure was added to provide the form for the custom fiberglass hot tub. This beast features all of the functionality of a tub with the drivability of a classic Caddy. Both a pool pump and filter system are located in the sizable trunk of the ’69.

Instead of adding a separate heating system for the water, the engineers made use of the 472 CID engine to heat the water to 102 degrees. Even with the additional equipment and water, the duo are hoping that the car or hot tub, will reach a top speed of 100 MPH. According to Barcroft TV, the duo is planning to test their engineering skills at Bonneville, where they hope to take the record for world’s fastest hot tub.
