VIDEO: All Wood Jeep; It Won’t Rust, But Watch Out For Termites

As any owner of an old Jeep knows, you’re always fighting rust, but not the owner of the Jeep shown in the “>video above. It is, as you can plainly see, made of solid wood. Or at least the body is made of wood. We don’t know much about it, but from the looks of it, we can deduce that the owner patterned it after a CJ-5.

It appears that every detail, as far as we can tell from video shot by YouTube contributor 12vking at a car show somewhere in Ohio, as well as the photos we found on the Internet, of the body is all wood. The front fenders, grille, headlight surrounds, body tub, hood, hinges, bumpers, window frame, and even the “roll bar” appear to made from different types of wood.

The seats are most interesting as they seem to be created from laminating multiple layers of different types of wood together. The video is short, but from what you can plainly see during even the short span of this flik, the builder put in some serious time and effort to build a work of automotive art.

It’s hard to see, but if you look carefully, you’ll note the frame and axles underneath, so we have to assume this wooden body is constructed atop a steel frame. And considering you can tell that the steering column, gear shifter, and the pedals go through the floor, it’s not too hard to imagine that the wooden off-road mobile must be self propelled.

We would sure like to know more, so if anybody out there has more information on it, please let us know in the Comments section below. In the mean time, we’ll keep looking for our perfect rust-free vintage 4×4. As we’re not sure we want to have to call in the termite guy every few years to inspect and fumigate our Jeep. What do you think of this wooden wonderment?
