Watch Original Movie Cars Recreate The Iconic Bullitt Chase Scene

If you were lucky enough to attend or you’ve been checking out the highlights, you know there was once again a great deal of Ford activity at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom. As part of its presentation, Ford shipped over the original Bullitt Mustang to run the storied hillclimb alongside its modern-day counterpart. However, the recently unearthed Bullitt didn’t just run with its future, it also chased its past.

Bullitt is one of the greatest celebrations of high-speed motoring in cinema history… — Charles Gordon-Lennox, Goodwood Festival of Speed

“We’re delighted to announce that these two incredible cars are making their Goodwood Festival of Speed debut and driving up the hill in front of fans,” The Duke of Richmond and Gordon, Charles Gordon-Lennox, founder of Goodwood Festival of Speed, said in advance of the event. “Bullitt is one of the greatest celebrations of high-speed motoring in cinema history making the Festival a perfect home for the pair of Mustangs…”

Michael Gross of ChromeCars drove the Charger R/T, while Sean Kiernan piloted the movie Mustang up the hill.

It was certainly cool for the two Bullitts to run the hill together, and it was a treat for the car’s current owner, Sean Kiernan.

“You know, it was never our intention to keep this car a secret from everybody,” he said before the event. “It just kind of happened with life. I’m just completely buzzing to join with Ford and the new Bullitt and show this car to the world on one of the biggest stages there is.”

However, the only thing that could be cooler is if the car recreated the infamous movie chase scene with a Dodge Charger R/T, as shown in the video above. However, it wasn’t just any Charger. German collectors ChromeCars brought one of the original movie versions, which reunited the two rivals for the first time in 50 years.

Even though the two cars didn’t ascend the hill at movie-chase speeds, it still tugged at our gearhead heartstrings to see the two cars running together. After seeing the two cars in action again, you just want to press play on the movie and crank up the surround sound…
