Video: Watch George Poteet’s POV 426MPH-Run at Bonneville

They say that the only well to tell the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys, and after watching this 426MPH run by George Poteet at Bonneville we’d tend to agree. George Poteet and his business partner Rob Main are two guys who have a dream of having the fastest wheel driven car in the world.

More specifically, they want to have the fastest wheel driven car powered by an internal combustion engine, which means the fancy rocket engines are out. Even more astounding is that Poteet and Main started out trying to break the record using an 1100-horsepower 4-cylinder HEMI engine.

To accomplish this goal they’ve created a car called the Speed Demon. All things relative, it’s a fairly small little car that looks like a fighter jet without wings. It was originally powered by the 4-cylinder HEMI “Midget” engine but is now powered by a 347-cubic inch small block engine using two 82mm Precision Turbochargers. The powerplant was constructed by Kenny Duttweiler and is good for 2200 horsepower!

The video shown here features the “Speed Demon” running for the SCTA C/Blown Fuel Streamliner record during the 2011 SpeedWeek event. Throughout the event they achieved an average speed of 390.709 mph and earned the fastest mile at over 426 mph!
