Video: V8 “Go-Kart” Is The Most American Thing You’ll See Today

The video above is titled “homemade 425 Oldsmobile powered death trap” and while that’s certainly an accurate description of the… vehicle we see here, if it doesn’t bring a smile to your face, you might want to check your pulse.

The author of said clip doesn’t have a ton of information to provide about the build, but does explain that what we’re seeing here is powered by a 425 cubic inch Oldsmobile big block V8 with an Edelbrock intake and Holley carburetor, which sends the exhaust running straight out of the open manifolds. Power appears to be routed through an augearbox of unspecified origin.

Mickey Thompson racing slicks in the rear, an air bag suspension, and a steering wheel that appears to have been plucked from an International Scout round out the package. And really, there’s not much else here, literally – it’s basically a seat mounted to a frame with a hoop roll bar added for amusement.

The video description also mentions that this monstrosity never made it to the track to see how fast it could run before it was dismantled for parts to use with other projects. That probably saved these guys a trip though – something tells us it might not have passed tech inspection if it had.

2232Some might call this redneck engineering, but to us, this is hot rodding in its purest form – take what you have to work with and make it very fast and extremely dangerous for as little cash as possible.
