It didn’t take long for Yoichi Imamura’s recently turbocharged Lexus LFA to compete in Japan’s D1 Grand Prix (see below). We just updated you about its newly pressurized NASCAR V8 and now we can see it all its glory, sideways and puffin smoke. The Lexus went to battle at the Odaiba D1 event where it faced another hyper expensive supercar, a Lamborghini Murcielago. The Lambo retains its factory V12 and was piloted by none other than Daigo Saito. We are unsure if the Italian powerplant has been modified. Check that immaculate wing clearance, just tall enough to clear those K-barriers … that’s engineering. Look how close the Lambo is to contacting the wall … that’s driving.
What the video lacks in quality it makes up for in action. After a bit of fun via cheers coordinated by wide-body master Liberty Walk in support of Saito, whose Lambo is decked out in Liberty Walk armor, the cars emerge. The video show both runs, Imamura leading first then Saito. Imamura seemed to hold Saito at bay pretty well as the super expensive super cars puffed the smoke big-time. During Imamura’s chase run he looked to go a bit shallow at the first initiation but soon gained angle, was closer than Saito was during his run at the cross-over clipping point and on to the end of the course. Imamura was judged the winner.
The video is a good teaser and we hope to bring you more drift action as the LFA development continues to progress.
