You know when you see a headline involving a crash, a teen, and an expensive car, it can’t be good news. Luckily, nobody was hurt besides the poor Lexus RC F.
Reports say that the teen’s father took possession of the white RC F in the video no more than a week ago. A week ago? The car isn’t even broken in yet, and the guy gave his son the key to it knowing damn well that he was going to push it to its limits. What do you expect when a 19 year-old kid takes a car that could possibly be the most powerful car he’s ever driven onto a windy, busy highway, and tries to have some fun? Mastering Mulholland, one of California’s best driving roads, isn’t the easiest of tasks.
YouTube user RNickeyMouse was there to capture the accident on video, but we were informed that the video was taken down shortly after. However, another YouTube user managed to take a snippet of the video for all of us to see. Fortunately there were some bystanders and motorcycle riders at the scene of the accident, and were able to help flip the car back on its side.
As one bystander pointed out that the car was still running, nobody bothered to check if it was still in drive. As the group of bystanders pushed the car back onto its wheels, it immediately made a run for the guardrail, adding insult to injury. While one of the bystanders reached in to put it into park, the car made an awful grinding, which could very well be the automotive equivalent to the infamous “brown note.”
Fortunately, nobody was hurt, which is what really counts in a situation like this; material possessions can be replaced, lives can’t. If you’re going to take spirited drives in your (or your dad’s) sports car, make sure you know the car, or just take it to the track. Be safe out there, everyone.
