Video: TCI Founder Racing his 1937 Ford Blown AA/Gass Racer

If you’re looking for Total Cost Involved Engineering’s founder Ed Moss, chances are that you’ll find him in one of the many areas of TCI’s manufacturing headquarters. As we found out on our tour of the facility last year, Moss is involved in every aspect of the company even 38 years after it’s start, but that’s not the only thing Moss does. He’s also very involved in the drag racing scene, racing his TCI-built 1937 Ford Blown AA/Gas racer. Check out Moss and his ‘37 in action in the above.

The video is a compilation of drag racing runs done by Moss in his ‘37 at several Goodguys Rod & Custom Association events in 2005 and 2006. Although the footage is from a few years ago, the raw power and showmanship of the nostalgic racer is timeless.

From different angles, you can see the gasser tear down the strip with full force, sometimes even getting a bit squirrelly before Moss expertly steers it back on track.

After one run, you can see a 6.9-second quarter mile time light up the board, but that’s not nearly the fastest Moss has gone in the classic racer. In 2005, Moss won at the Goodguy’s 1st Northwest Nationals event with a 6.727-second quarter mile time, crossing the traps at 204.57mph.

Just last year, Moss continued his drag racing success with the Ford, winning in the Pro Supercharged class at the Goodguys K&N Filters 44th March Meet with a 6.80-second quarter mile time and a trap speed of 201mph. He also took first place at the National Street Rod Association reunion event in Bakersfield, California with a 6.72-second quarter mile run with a 205.9mph trap speed.

Moss’ impact in the industry with TCI Engineering is undeniable, but his success on the drag strip behind the wheel of his ‘37 proves his dedication to the people of the industry even more. After all, you can’t fake quality and passion when the proof is in the results.
