Christian Jæger is a driver for the Unique Racing drift team in Denmark. In previous seasons, Christian drove his Nissan R33 as the gods intended with the factory 2.6-liter RB26DETT providing the soundtrack. However, recently he decided to changes things up by sending the car to FUBAR Racing to have a M120.980 V12 from a Mercedes 600SE installed. That’s right he’s doubling the cylinders and, as purists will most likely allege, betraying the car’s lineage by installing a German motor.
The 6.0-liter V12 engine was offered in three states of tune during its 10-year run from 1992 to 2002 in 600 class Mercedes Benzes. A factory naturally aspirated engine, it developed 389, 402, and 408 horsepower.
We love the fact that FUBAR hung a pair of turbos on the beast. The tuning company reports that the combination will run water/methanol injection and says the engine is currently producing 649 horsepower and 663 ft-lb of torque. We are unsure, but suspect this is a low, developmental boost setting.
