Bathurst is an iconic word in the world of racing. The Mt. Panorama Circuit in New South Wales, Australia is as celebrated as any other road course in the world. This video taken at Bathurst 2012 takes us along on the Fabre Camaro as it competes with other vintage racing machines around the amazing and challenging race course. For those who don’t know, Fabre is a major distributor of performance parts and accessories in Australia and is very active in all aspects of auto racing.
The video lasts for just under 13 minutes and is a perfect way to spend your coffee break. If you don’t have that much time to spend right now, here’s a quick synopsis of the action.
Racing begins aggressively as the Fabre Camaro’s driver deftly shoots past competitors who either have mechanical problems of are asleep at the wheel. For whatever reason, they are left in the dust! At the video’s 6:10 mark, the number 95 Camaro two cars ahead spins out and the Fabre entry gains another position. At the 9:30 mark, another fallen competitor can be seen off of the right-side of the course. Two cars now battle for the lead but the Camaro is in hot pursuit. As the race progresses, the leaders seem to be almost within striking distance on the curves. However they pull away from the Camaro on the straightaways.
A flash of color explodes at the left side of the Camaro at the 12:22 mark as a white and green AMC Javelin roars past. The checkered flag appears at 12:41 and competition ends for this heat. Get ‘em next time!
