Top Gear isn’t just the greatest car-centric show ever; it is one of the most-watched television shows in the world, period. As a result, it has given its hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond a chance to branch out into shows of their own. While May has his “Toy Stories” and Clarkson has plenty of offshoots like “Meet the Neighbors”, Richard Hammond has stuck with cars in his latest show, Crash Course.
Crash Course seems “the Hamster” taking on a series of tasks he isn’t exactly trained for. In one particular episode, Hammond is given a chance to get behind the wheel of a genuine NASCAR racer.
But first Hammond explores the NASCAR cult, and he even gets a chance to drive the pace car Camaro. While the British hosts of Top Gear often mock the American obsession with NASCAR, Hammond seems to quite enjoy himself…even when one of the teams he temporarily works for employs him to move some tires to and fro.
Eventually, Hammond gets a NASCAR driving lesson from none other than Kyle Petty. Hammond says the car does not want to go straight, and it is unlike anything he has ever driven before. Judging from the look on his face though, that is a very, very good thing. This clip is definitely worth watching, and it makes us want to check out the rest of the show as well.
