So earlier today (Friday, January 9, 2015), one of the most exciting new forms of off-road racing took place and we can tell you that it was AMAZING! The 2015 Red Bull Frozen Rush race was held on the snowy hills and valleys of one of Maine’s premiere winter playgrounds, a ski resort called Sunday River.

This year was the second time that the world’s first-ever off-road truck race on snow returned to the snowy mountains of Maine. The 2014 defending champion, Ricky Johnson was there in his 900-horsepower Pro-4 truck with seven more of the best drivers in the world, also in race trucks just like Johnson’s. This year those other drivers included the likes of Brian Deegan, Bryce Menzies, and Rob MacCachren.

Once again, the trucks raced head-to-head in pairs over jumps, around gates, and down ski slopes in elimination-round style racing. Roaring through below-freezing temperatures, these highly-specialized trucks that normally race through mud, dirt, and sand, clawed their way around a track of ice and snow at Frozen Rush. In the desert the goal is to keep the trucks as cool as possible, but in the New England winter the aim is just the opposite. Desert truck racers and their crews have to face the unfamiliar cold of northern New England.

You will fly over massive jumps, drift corners, twist through chicanes, witnessing what the racers deal with during the head-to-head racing in their modified desert machines in pursuit of the title as 2015 Red Bull Frozen Rush Champion.
