Our American readers may be surprised to learn that musclecars are popular through out Scandinavia. Countries such as Sweden, Finland and Denmark have car shows, drag racing and hot rod car clubs. Recently, YouTube user Jamboolio ” target=”_blank”>uploaded a video of the Helsinki Cruising Night. This is an American musclecar show that is held monthly in downtown Helsinki, Finland. We figured we share it with you as it features several American classics cruising the cobblestone roads of Scandinavia. We shared one of his other videos with you earlier.
You gotta love these Mustangs. The Mach 1 looks like it could be a street and strip car.
As the video begins sweet mechanical music can be heard. The song is the cackling of a fine tuned V-8, as what appears to be a C2 Corvette rolls into view. The Vette is then followed by several restored Detroit classics such as a Buick Grand National, a 1968 Dodge Charger, a 77 Trans Am, a Chevelle, a Mustang Mach 1, a De Tomaso Pantera and even a blown pro street 1970 Dodge Charger 500.
Classic musclecars of all shapes, sizes, years and colors could be seen in every direction. Sun orange, electric blue, candy apple green, etc. Everything from original classics to resto mods to street and strip cars were in attendance. Not only were musclecars in attendance but the car show was flooded with hundreds spectators as well. It appears as if the whole town came out to admire these classic Detroit machines.
It amazes us to see these American classics cruising down the viking roads of Finland. Seeing these cars in a Scandinavian background makes them seem more exotic. It’s fascinating seeing our hobby appreciated in different parts of the world.
Charger 500's are rare enough in the USA, who would of guessed one is in Finland?
