Video: More Shelby GT350-R Exhaust Goodness At Grattan Raceway

Earlier this month, we shared a video with you of this Shelby GT350 and GT350-R chasing each other around a track. This time, we’re sharing another GT350-R video lapping around Grattan Raceway, with a more specific focus on just the GT350-R.

The video is rather short, but showcases Ford factory test driver Steve Thompson as he pilots the 2016 Shelby GT350-R around the racetrack at Grattan Raceway, which is located in Belding, Michigan.

The new silhouette of the S550 chassis has to be one of our favorite Mustangs yet.

While the differences in the GT350-R are not too extreme from the standard GT350, (or even a Boss Laguna Seca for that matter) there are some differences worth noting. For example, the GT350-R has an astonishing 130 pound weight reduction from the removal of: the back seats, the air conditioning assembly, and the radio equipment – just to name a few. Of course the addition of full carbon fiber wheels from the factory helps, too.

Now if 8,000 rpm from a Mustang engine isn't impressive, we don't know what is.

And with that comes some exterior changes, as well. You’ll notice the aero design of the R is more aggressive, including a carbon fiber front splitter and a carbon fiber rear spoiler.

And with the famous Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires coming standard on the GT350-R, we can only imagine how this car must handle. We’re anxious to get some seat time behind the wheel of one of these bad boys.

The video offers a few up close visuals on the GT350-R that we’ve yet to see. Notice things like the cover for the radiator support, present on Mustangs since the SN95 days is gone. Also the radio delete plate, something we think you’ll start to see pop up in the aftermarket.

What you really want to hear from this video though is the sound, so put some good headphones on, crank up the volume and enjoy just over a minute of delcious flat-plane crank goodness as the GT350-R makes some laps.

Don't mind us, we're just dropping some of our favorite images that make the GT350-R what it is.
