Video: Mopar’s Top Eliminator Contest Goes Online

Mopar’s now long-running “Top Eliminator” program is a contest geared toward the everyday Mopar enthusiast. The Chrysler performance company’s motorsports marketing manager, Dale Aldo elaborates on the company’s desire to capture photos of everyday gearheads and their rides, “We wanted to reward our grassroots enthusiasts; we didn’t want to just have it skewed toward the Barrett-Jackson type restorations.”

It’s not a new event, and in fact the “Top Eliminator” photo contest has been in existence for several years, though Aldo and the Mopar crew are looking to expand to the web medium and reach an even larger fanbase, “We developed a ‘Top Eliminator’ program to recognize them. It’s going on for multiple years now; we do three ‘Top Eliminators’ and now we’re extending it to an online contest. Contestants will submit pictures and the pictures will be evaluated by a group of enthusiasts within Mopar.”

The big aim of Mopar’s online contest is to look at the overall quality of a car’s restoration or performance build while learning something about the car owner and that person’s journey to the finished product, “We want to talk to the owner and we want to find out what the backstory is behind his [or her] car. Almost every very, very nice car you’ll see out there has a story behind it. It’s an acquisition story or it’s a story of how I restored it or how I modified it.”

Much more than a contest of sweet rides and the folks who own them, Mopar’s online photo contest is one that will reward that person who Mopar feels captures the heart of Dodge and Chrysler motoring, “We want to capture the spirit of the Mopar brand and the spirit of the automotive enthusiast when we pick the award winner.”

Mopar’s current photo contest is open to all diehard Chrysler fans, and you can get in on the action by signing-up at Mopar’s Facebook page. Do you think you have what it takes to become Mopar’s next “Top Eliminator?!”
