As we munched on snacks and grub, there are those who tune in to the Super Bowl for the game. However, there are others who prefer to dodge the game out and keep their focus on the commercials.
Lexus brought us a treat, introducing their all-new RC, dubbed a compact executive coupe. The marketing team at Lexus looked to be having fun making this commercial, driving radio-controlled versions of the car all over the screen.
From crazy drifts to ridiculous parallel parking sequences, the mini RC Lexus RC caught our eyes as it skid about during the commercial. However, it is towards the end of the commercial where the true, life-size RC is revealed and it is not a remote-controlled car.
The RC F that is shown in the commercial is stuffed with the 5.0-liter 2UR-GSE V8 engine that produces an astounding power curve of 483 horses and 391 lbs/ft of torque. This rear-wheel drive beast’s power is put down by an absurd 8-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission.
Other significant features include a carbon fiber package and Brembo four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes. And we thought the IS F had it all. Lexus has surely one-upped itself here with the RC F.
Clearly a clever marketing ploy, Lexus’ slogan “Let’s Play” shows they are having fun with what they are engineering and want to make it appealing for everyone. Although the drifting may be targeting the younger audience, dubbing it a compact executive coupe is sure to catch the eyes of luxury sport enthusiasts. It should be noted that the RC F is Available in Japan where it was a very popular tuning platform at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon. So the car’s future in out market is indeed bright.
They may be advertising the RC in the commercial, but the RC F is what we’re looking forward to seeing. What are your thoughts on Lexus’ new coupe? Feel free to comment below.
