ASCS Announcer Bryan Hulbert calls it the “best race of the year.” He might be right…

On a recent day off, dirt standouts Kyle Larson, Rico Abreu, and RJ Johnson all got together for some Outlaw Kart racing. Located behind Abreu’s Vineyards is a small track that is used to have a little fun. 

If you have never seen an outlaw kart, they are 500cc engines with roughly 100hp. And from the looks of it – crazy fun to drive! Go karts sure have changed since the five horsepower yard karts that we use to drive!

The three friends and competitors pulled slider after slider on each other and exchanged the lead countless times.  Larson put on his twitter, “Had a blast racing go karts at @Rico_Abreu ranch. I’ll make a video tonight. Some of the coolest racing you’ll see.” He wasn’t kidding!

We couldn’t even keep track of who was driving each kart because of how many times they traded the lead or went three wide! This was pure unadulterated dirt track fun! Or as Hulbert put it, “That race shows the passion that gets us into this sport to begin with.”

On another note, someone needs to make a track open to the public with these karts! The chance to pull slide jobs like that… Someone could make a fortune!
