The USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series never fails to put on a great show for their fans and that was certainly the case over the weekend at Indiana’s Lawrenceburg Speedway. At the drop of the green flag for the 30-lap feature event it was Coleman Gulick who jumped out to an early lead from his outside front row starting spot. Gulick would look tough during the early laps as he built a nice lead. That was until Chase Stockon through a nice slider on him to take the lead on lap 12 but Gulick was quick to counter as he regained the lead on the next lap. Gulick would again hold onto the lead for several laps until Stockon again took the lead on the 21st lap where he would pull away from a great battle for positions two through six. However, a spin on the white flag lap would set up a great finish. Kyle Thomas Jr. would take the lead on the restart and was in position for the win until another caution flew and bunched the field up for another great finish.

On the final restart Stockon would get a much better restart where he would hold off Thomas until the final corner of the race. It was in that last corner that Thomas made his move for the win and third-place running Brady Bacon would his shot for the win too. The trio of Stockon, Thomas, and Bacon would cross the finish line three-wide as Thomas took the win. The victory was the first win for the brand new Mike Dutcher/Rotondo Weirich/Tri-Star Motorsports team as Dutcher is used to victory lane after serving as the crew chief on last season’s championship-winning team.
Thomas spoke in victory lane, “That’s the best race I’ve ever been a part of, right there. I’m glad everybody came out tonight, and we put on a great race for them. To get a win here, where I’ve always had bad luck, it really feels good. I was pissed to see that last yellow. I finally got to the lead, and the caution comes out. We got lucky for it to fall that way at the end and give us a chance at the win. It’s great to get a win for this new deal and everybody who helps with this team.” Chase Stockon came up just short in the runner-up spot and was followed by Brady Bacon in third, Hunter Schuerenberg in fourth, and Bryan Clauson rounded out the top-five. The USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series will return to action on April 20th at the historic Eldora Speedway.
