The EG6 has always been respected as a serious competitor, thanks in large part to its handling prowess. Nimble, but occasionally nervous, these cars can embarrass machinery five times their price if driven properly, and with a lot of hard work — 6 years, to be exact — this modified Civic shows just how quickly one can go.
The modifications this agile hillclimber and track warrior has received give it not only extra poise, but considerable grunt as well. With a K24 harnessed by a six-speed sequential box from Sadev — the company which manufactures the transmissions in WRC machines — the car is capable of accelerating on par with a Porsche GT3 until 120 mph. This machine is not designed for top speed, however, as we see here. Instead, it’s made to conquer the tight, relentless twists of the hillclimb.
The keen observer will notice just how composed and efficiently the car performs. Rarely is there even the slightest suggestion of understeer, and the rear end remains totally planted the entire time. While the EG has a reputation as a nervous car on the limit, this particular machine shows no unpredictable behavior. In fact, if the scenery weren’t passing at such an alarming rate, it might appear that the driver was out for a Sunday cruise. A tailor-made suspension from KW undoubtably has an effect on the car’s composure, but the driver also clearly understands the name of the game.
