Joey Saldana may be the best sprint car driver who has never won a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship or the Knoxville Nationals but that will never slow him down. “The Brownsburg Bullet” grew up around racing as his father Joe Saldana who was a very successful sprint car driver that won the 1970 Knoxville Nationals.

The younger Saldna won his first WoO feature in 1995 and followed that up with the 1996 Rookie of the Year award. Saldana has racked up a very impressive racing resume over the years as he has won 84 WoO feature events which puts him 7th on the all-time list. In 2009 he became one of only 4 drivers to earn 20 wins in a season while driving for Kasey Kahne Racing. Saldana has also won the prestigious Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway twice in his career.
He has been so close to winning the WoO points title on several occasions but late season injuries have knocked him out of contention. Saldana has also been very close to winning the Knoxville Nationals as he has finished in the runner-up position three times.
He has been with the newly formed Motter Motorsports team for 2013 after he parted ways with Kasey Kahne Racing late in 2012. So far the season has been a bit of a struggle for him as he has yet to earn a win in 2013 however he sits sixth in points with 21 top-tens and 8 top-fives. There is little doubt that Joey Saldana will be behind the wheel of a sprint car for many years to come and will eventually find himself in victory lane again.
