When most people think of drag racing, they think of the standard paved quarter-mile racetrack we all are very familiar with. What they may not realize however, is that there is a large percentage of the off-road community that competes in off-road drag races. Whether it is the sand drags at Olds in Glamis or mud bog drag racing in Florida, there are quite a few ways for off-road enthusiasts to get their drag racing fix without pavement.

Featuring an extremely short wheelbase, high center of gravity, and limited power in stock trim, you normally would not think of a Jeep as a strong candidate for a drag car – just don’t tell that to the owner of the Jeep in the video above. Featuring a naturally aspirated 572 ci V8 powerplant cranking out 701 hp and pared with a 4L80E transmission, this Jeep CJ-7 is the ultimate sleeper.

Incase the owner of the Ferrari Testarossa didn’t know when he pulled up to the light next to the Jeep, a “sleeper” is a car that is abnormally fast for the type of car that it is. When the light turned green, the Ferrari owner found out the hard way that his high-end sports car  is susceptible to being beaten down by fixed up Jeeps. It was probably pretty shocking for the Ferrari owner, and while the Testarossa wasn’t exactly the fastest Ferrari ever made, it still has got to be a shot to the ego. On the other side of the coin, the Jeep owner likely tells all his buddies that his Jeep can beat a Ferrari!
