With several decades of experience perfecting the manual transmission shifter, Hurst Performance Products has provided enthusiasts with a bonafide short thrower shifter solution since the late ’50s. That formula has carried over to the latest Mustang platform with the company’s all-new Hurst Comp Plus Shifter (PN 3910205) for all ’15-’16 Mustang models equipped with a Getrag MT-82 6-speed manual transmission.

While the MT-82 6-speed manual transmission has been made available from the factory since 2011, installing the Comp Plus Shifter from Hurst on the latest S550 chassis equipped sixth-gen Mustang has proven to be a bit different than the previous S197 generation.

Hurst has provided enthusiasts with a two part installation video series to make the installation clear from the beginning.

The latest Comp Plus Shifter features a ‘multi-link-type mechanism’ which is used to achieve a balanced short throw shifter that maintains a favorable shifting experience. This technology incorporates a reduction in throw by 38 percent, and even incorporates the trigger rod as the ‘pull-up reverse lockout collar’ for reverse lockout. Enthusiasts will also find the classic Hurst finishing touches, such as CNC machined billet steel parts throughout its construction, and the use of Hursts’ classic white shift knob. This short shifter solution is designed to fit all MT-82 equipped ’15-’16 Mustang models, and is sure to be a hit with virtually any racing or daily driven Mustang enthusiasts.
