The 3/8ths mile clay oval in Las Cruces, New Mexico, has been one of our favorites from the beginning of OneDirt. The video work by the High Desert Video crew brought our attention to the track back in 2009, and they’ve maintained that interest since then. The track official’s communications captured in the video have long been the highlights of their work. Funny, serious, and sometimes frantic, the officials voices have made the track’s videos some of the very best.
Sadly, the track is nearing the end of its run as it prepares to close the doors at the end of the season, and relocate to a nearby facility in Vado, New Mexico. As a tribute to a great facility and the fine work of the track’s videographers, we will be pulling some of their best work and presenting it here for your enjoyment. We hope you like these clips as much as we do.
The High Desert Video Crew labeled a series of videos “You Make The Call,” and posed the question to viewers, “who was at fault” for some of the crashes that took place on the track. In this clip taken at Southern New Mexico Speedway on October 21, 2012, during a Legend car main event, the #77 flipped after getting into the front wall on a restart. The video team asked: Do you think the #77 or the red #1G were at fault, or was this “just racing?”
Look for more of these “You Make The Call” videos coming soon.
