Video: Harbor Freight Tools’ 1967 Firebird Restoration, Part 8

Welcome back, everyone. You’ve been with us and Jeff’s team as we suffered through chipped paint, a nonworking engine, and several other, shall we say, unfortunate instances. But the guys have met every challenge head on, and come out shining. Especially their tools, which have all been generously provided by Harbor Freight Tools

In the last video, we saw what happened as the fellas took on painting the car. Jeff was able to make short work of the underside by using the Central Pneumatic Pro Auto HVLP Spray Gun with a 33 oz. Gravity Feed Paint Cup to get every square inch of the outside absolutely perfect. And buffing was a cinch with the 7″ Polisher/Sander by Chicago Electric. You can check out Part 7 here.

This penultimate chapter will, sadly, be the last real step in the rebuild of the car: the assembly phase. Still, it’s been a thrilling adventure, and one we won’t soon forget.

The video starts off with the elegant, light blue engine being lifted back into the car. All the wires and pipes and doodads are hooked back up, and it’s onto the wheels as a jack is used to lift the car some more.

The crew then inserts the glistening new aluminum radiator, and afterwards attaches a reverse brake bleeder to the bleed nipple. Then come the front fenders and rear-end work, and both aspects look so fantastic that you feel like this car belongs in a museum. Or at least in your driveway.

With the exterior finished, the crew moves on to the interior, where they lay down black carpet and a black headliner. Where are the seats, you ask? Why, they’re being hand-crafted in the next scene, of course.

In go the seats, and out zooms the camera, as we close on the car in its complete state. Tune in next week for part 9, where we’ll get to see the car in its final, complete state.
