Do you remember the old demolition derbies during which stunt drivers would bicycle a car as part of the show? Well, that art is not lost. Drivers Robby Gordon and Sheldon Creed, both very competitive off-road racers, were at the Coronado Speed Festival in San Diego, California recently to give festival attendees a taste of what the Stadium Super Trucks (SST) were all about. Gordon went on to win the Coronado SST Series race that weekend, but to top it off, he and fellow SST Series competitor Sheldon Gordon put on a stunt show of their own.

As you can see in the nearly two-minute “>video above, the duo of professional racing drivers have got the skills of those old demolition derby stunt performers down pat.

From cameras outside, as well as in the cab, you get a front row seat of the thrills and chills these two drivers gave the Coronado Speed Festival attendees with a two-wheel balancing act in their SST race trucks while negotiating a course laid out on one of the Coronado Naval Air Station runways.

If you’ve never seen the SST race trucks in action, you are really missing out. The brain-child of Robby Gordon, the SST Series replicates the fast-paced, fender-banging action of the Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group (MTEG) stadium off-road races of the late 80s and early 90s that brought a mobile truck racing circuit to sports stadiums anywhere by building courses of jumps, turns, and high-speed straightaways right there on the playing field.
