Video: Feelin’ the Burn, Literally – C3 Goes Up In Flames

If you’ve ever rebuilt or restored any vehicle, you know firsthand the emotional (not to mention financial) investment that such projects demand: countless hours spent slaving away in the garage, dozens of mental breakdowns, and a bank account dwindling so fast it makes your head spin. However, the end result is always worth it; be it the satisfaction of completion, pride in your own handiwork, or the fresh new set of wheels you get to show off to your friends, the rewards of restoring a car are unbeatable.1After the seemingly-endless amounts of time and money that your project vehicle absorbed, the indisputable expectation is that you’ll be able to relish in your opus for years to come – making all the trouble more and more worth it with each drive. For most gearheads, this is the pleasant reality; however, the poor, poor gentleman in the above video is no such gearhead.6Wayne from Australia – the owner of this Nassau Blue 1970 – reached out to the folks at Corvette Forum with a bit of background, right after the man behind the camera uploaded this emotionally controversial  target=”_blank”>video on YouTube. According to Wayne, it was only the car’s second outing since the completion of its four-year restoration.

2We imagine that words couldn’t describe the nauseating disappointment Wayne felt as he helplessly stood by and watched his pride and joy get devoured by the inferno. But then, while watching the video, we felt a bit conflicted as to whether we should be laughing or mourning.

All heartache aside, the editing is absolutely priceless; the fact that – in an otherwise genuinely depressing incident – someone was able to apply a little tasteful comedy is rather refreshing. Our greatest condolences go out to you, Wayne from Australia, as well as a serious appreciation for both yours and the uploader’s sense of humor.4
