For anyone not familiar with the sensations a sports car at speed can offer, a number of groups will rent a ride in a “Ringtaxi” at the Nurburgring. With Porsches and BMW M cars to escort you around the narrow, treacherous, 7-mile circuit, it’s definitely not a roller coaster ride for the adventurous. The experience here is much more intimidating — as seen from the dramatic facial expressions of this woman who appears to have gotten more than she asked for.
It’s hard to fault her, though. With these laps offered at reasonable prices and motorsport being in the air in Germany, it’s just another way to spend an afternoon — assuming you’ve got a bit of the adrenaline junkie in you. Even then, riding around in a sports car on the limit is an experience that is equal parts thrilling and terrifying. As the driver expertly navigates the course; driving quickly but carefully, it’s obvious that the passenger isn’t familiar at all with the capabilities of a prepped track day machine.
Her facial expressions say it all. Whether she’s grimacing when dropping down a steep hill, closing her eyes as the car gets momentarily airborne, or puffing out her cheeks in exasperation when overtaking a slower car, it’s clear that she feels like she’s dancing a tango with death. To her credit, she manages to go the entire lap without losing her lunch, though her chipmunk cheeks suggested that she wasn’t far from it. If this doesn’t inspire one to buy a ticket to Frankfurt, it will offer a few chuckles.
