EVO‘s Jethro Bovington is one lucky guy. He gets to rip around the Anglesey Circuit in Wales with a McLaren P1 and a Porsche 918 Spyder, all in the name of journalism.
If you haven’t heard of either hypercar, you’ve probably been living under a rock, but that’s alright. The McLaren P1 is a 3.8-liter V8, twin turbo, rear-wheel drive, 3,069-pound monster that produces 903 hp and 664 lb. ft., when assisted by its electric motor. The Porsche 918 Spyder is a naturally-aspirated 4.6-liter V8, all-wheel drive beast that weighs 3,750-pounds and produces 795 hp and 575 lb. ft. of torque.
Just when you think the video is over, it’s not. McLaren sent out another P1 with the Pirelli Trofeo R tires for them to play with and Bovington got the results he was looking for, but we won’t spoil them for you. The point here is that both are engineering masterpieces, civil enough to drive everyday. Who will come out on top? Check out the video for 15-minutes of awesomeness and find out for yourself!
