In heat race action on Wednesday night at Kokomo Speedway, the high groove was working great as the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars were inches off the cushion and wall. Open wheel legend Rich Vogler said, “You have to take it over the edge a few times to find it.” Sprint car young gun Parker Price-Miller did just that when he pushed his car over the edge and climbed the wall in turn one. His car got up into the fence and tore a huge hole in it and even one of his front wheels fell outside the track.
While this accident did bring to mind the now famous accident involving Kyle Larson at Daytona, the important thing to remember here is, the fence did its job – it kept the car on the track. One stray tire did make it through the fence, but in all seriousness, when you are that close to the fence in the center of the corner, you open yourself up to all types of debris flying at you.
Thankfully no one was injured, and the folks at Kokomo Speedway repaired the fence to have a fantastic night of racing. In fact, Sam Martin of the World of Outlaws called it a truly phenomenal race!
