When you buy a brand new car, you expect things to be, well, perfect. And if they aren’t, you expect the dealership you bought the car from to fix those problems, and treat your car well while in their hands. These are not outlandish demands, especially when you figure that a car like the 2010 Camaro SS/RS can cost close to $40,000 brand new.

So when one Camaro owner took his car into Best Chevrolet in Easley, South Carolina, he probably wasn’t expecting the voice recorder he left in the car to capture the sounds of a couple of mechanics thrashing his car rather than fixing it. As Jalopnik notes, this video may make you cringe a bit.

The owner of this soon-to-be-thrashed Camaro took it into Best Chevrolet to get a grinding problem at parking lot speeds checked out. Despite describing the problem in detail, two mechanics went out and revved, launched, and hammered on the Camaro for about twenty minutes. The whole ordeal was caught on a hidden voice recorder, where you can hear the mechanics talking about ways to scam the Camaro owner into buying a new clutch after they’re done toasting it.

But the worst part is that despite being confronted by this seemingly irrefutable evidence, neither Best Chevrolet nor Chevy Customer Assistance have gone on to help the wronged individual. Nor is this the Camaro owner’s first experience with poor service on his Camaro after another dealership did basically the same thing.
