Video: C6 Corvette Pushes Out 1,216 Rear Wheel HP and 911 Pound-Feet

444 cubic inches of American muscle strapped up and spinning the barrels.

Raw horsepower is a beautiful thing. The thrill of g-forces smashing you into your seat can hardly be replaced by any other adrenaline pumping experience. In 2005, the C6 Chevrolet Corvette rolled off the line with a 364 cubic inch 6.0L LS2 V8 engine boasting a modest 400 horsepower at the crank around 6,000 RPM and 400 pound-feet of torque at 4,400.

The later Z06 sprang up with a 427 cubic inch 7.0L LS7 V8, which pumped out a more notable 505 horsepower at the crank, making it the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine in a production GM vehicle. These are respectable numbers for an off-the-shelf vehicle, though after parasitic losses, the power actually delivered to the tires dwindles and the numbers drop.

Of course, any stock numbers are a bit of a let down when compared to this silver C6 Z06 built by CBI Street Cars. The 444 cubic inch V8 powerhouse is fitted with a F1X ProCharger pushing 19 PSI and coupled with an air-to-water intercooler. 93 octane fuel sprays through the injectors along with knock suppression via an Alky Control meth injection kit. DSX Tuning dialed it in with a bit of magic and when spun up on the dyno, this monster rocked out an extremely impressive 1,216 rear wheel horsepower and 911 foot-pounds of torque.

This street legal pavement pounder demands attention and respect. With an engine like that, it’s easy to see why the owner has vanity license plate “HU’ZNXT” (Who’s Next). Check out the video shot by Bad Bowtie Productions; the car runs so hard that the exhaust blows the video camera off a chair!
