Video: Aussie’s Set Guinness Book World Record Burnout

In a recent epic display of power meets the pavement the Aussie’s, ringing in the New Year, set a new Guinness Book World Record for the largest burnout on New Years’ day. Set in the capital of Canberra, Australia, 103 power packing rides gathered for a simultaneous throw down of the warming of the tires.

The gathering – meant to beat the previous world record set two years ago, also set at “>Summernat – garnered spectators and participants from all across the nation for a showcasing of Aussie horsepower at its best. Breaking the previous record of 69 cars, the liquefying of the tires commenced for a duration lasting for approximately thirty seconds.

In a lineup that included at one count 107 cars only 103 were certified and tallied into the final results by Guinness officials. Capturing some pretty sick aerial footage as the air filled with smoke and evaporated rubber one must wonder just how were the Guinness officials able to account for all 103 cars. Unless they had hazmat suits on we can only guess as to the how this monumental task was achieved.Traveling hundreds of feet above and into the stands, thousands of spectators were bathed in fumes of burnt rubber and colorful smoke as a giant plume formed over the landscape. Despite attempts to break the record the past two years, it would stand until January 1st. That day, all 103 hoons not only achieved a new record but most likely achieved some decibel barrier record as well with the roaring of the engines which could be heard for miles around.

Either way, it was a site to behold for all in attendance. As epic burnouts go, hats off to the Aussie’s from your neighbors from across the pond for always taking the love of the ride to the next level.

Growing up in Greenwood, Indiana a short distance from the world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway, my dad would take me to local car shows and events. Through this I gained my passion. Along with cars, I have always loved photography, writing, and graphic arts. However when attending college I did not pursue my passions. I played it safe and majored in business and marketing. After a few years in this field I determined this was not for me and began to pursue a writing and photography career. Landing me here with Power Automedia. I am also now the business owner of Bridgett's Toxic Creations. Specializing in automobile showboards, custom license plates, logos, and website headers. Living and breathing the Mustang life everyday in everyway. To be able to work in my field of passion is amazing and fun experience everyday. The best part is sharing a common passion with others.
