Video: 5.4-Powered Cobra Is A Rolling Burnout Machine!

You’ve probably heard us say it in the past, but we’ll say it again for those of you in the back – one of the reasons we love Mustangs is for how versatile they can be. These V8-powered machines aren’t just limited to one style of racing, either. With variations between generations like having a solid-rear-axle, and some even being equipped with an independent-rear-suspension, Mustangs truly are a car you can build to your liking.

Case in point is this New Edge Terminator Cobra nicknamed the “Ego Crusher.” The car is owned by Caleb Skinner, and his Competition Orange 2004 SVT Cobra is one of only 281 models ever produced, if you’re into that sort of thing. “It’s a 2014 Shelby (engine) block,” Caleb told BigKleib34 in his video.

The rest of the build consists of the use of Darton sleeves, Ford GT supercar cylinder heads paired with Ferrea valves and a Holley Dominator ECU. “We figured going all over different elevations and different places that we needed to get away from the factory computer. The Holley (unit) has done really well so far,” Caleb said. Providing forced induction on this Orange Crush Cobra is a pair of Bullseye turbochargers. The best part about this Cobra, however? It’s still a street car, according to Caleb.

“If it was racecar-ish, we didn’t use it,” Caleb said. “It’s still has power steering, A/C and a radio.” Caleb said the car made 1,200 horsepower at the rear wheels on 21 pounds of boost. Albeit he planned to bring the car up to nearly 1,600 horsepower at the rear wheels, he didn’t want to sacrifice street drivability. When you’re able to pull a massive rolling burnout at more than 130 mph and trap more than 200 in the half-mile, is it finally enough? We think not!
