Video: 440 Magnum Charger Goes Drifting, Sorta

We love to see American muscle in other countries; it amazes us what some of the folks in the world will do with their hotrods. These video come to us by way of Lebanon – yes, that country that’s been decimated by war over the last couple of decades.

It seems that they haven’t lost their passion for American culture, and in fact there’s an entire YouTube channel dedicated to their Mopar fanatics. This neat machine has clearly seen better days, but for a country that has been ravaged by war, we’re impressed that there is even a surviving 440-equipped Charger to be found.

The Charger in factory form was never designed to be a handling supercar, but both videos incorporate a level of driving many Americans would be hard-pressed to duplicate, and the driver is clearly having the time of his life whipping around corners and through the barrels, side-pipes barkin’ and tires smokin’.

One thing that definitely struck us as interesting – there are no real barriers to protect the spectators, and although the driver seems to have a good level of control over the machine, if there were a parts failure or simply inattention on his part, someone could be seriously injured or killed as a result of his antics. He doesn’t seem too worried, either, as there is no helmet present. And maybe there just aren’t any lawyers in Lebanon who can be bothered with trivial pursuits like this.

One thing’s for sure – there are brave cameramen in both instances, and the still photographer in the lead video has a big brass set – he gets closer to the 3500-pound machine than we’d be willing to do. One question – why is the starting line banner in English?
