Video: 24 Minutes Of Musclecar Burnouts In Lake George, NY

Fox bodied Mustang melts them down in this video.

Built along a rail line between New York City and Montreal, Lake George in the late 19th and early 20th century was a place where the rich and famous had private country estates. By the ‘50s, Lake George had changed dramatically, becoming an attraction for the growing middle class. While its population is still relatively small, in the summer it swells to over 50,000 residents, especially in the Village of Lake George.

While one of the most popular activities around the Lake is hot air ballooning, and a large gathering of balloons occurs in this area, that apparently isn’t what’s entertaining to a number of adults both young and old, who congregate along a major thoroughfare on both sides of the road, and either participate in or watch as a big group of cars and trucks do burnouts on the street itself, not a parking lot or some other venue. No, in Lake George they’re doing it in the streets!

Tri-Five Chevy getting it done.

Watch as Tri-Five Chevys, Camaros, Mustangs, Novas, Road Runners, Gremlins, Mavericks, G8s, Firebirds, Corvettes, T-buckets, rat rods, F-100s to F-150s, Cadillacs, Monte Carlos AND Ram diesel or Hemi pickups all light ‘em up. You may wonder where are the local gendarmes, and we did too, but at least in the time this video was shot there appears to be no police presence.

Entertaining as this video is, we also wanted to know if this is a rite of passage in Lake George, a sort of coming of age for young men and women drivers and enthusiasts that takes place all summer long, or was it a rare occurrence that just happened. Maybe someone from the area will tell us, or better yet let us know when the next tire shredding, crowd inducing burnout fest is taking place.
