The 2015 Bay Bottom Crawl is coming up soon and we thought a quick refresher course of this wild race was appropriate. Have a look at this video of a C6 going 100+ mph at the 2012 BBC event down in Florida. The ferocious Vette has a GoPro strapped to the roof and even though the driver was penalized for knocking over a cone, he made the course in a little over two minutes and set a record at the time of the shoot. Imagine a road rally, open road race and autocross combined and you’ll get the idea.

The Bottom Bay Crawl has been going strong for 56 years and it is not for the faint of heart or folks with small cojones. There are no tires, sand bags or railing to keep you from going in the ditch so things could get ugly quick. Be sure and bring your rabbit’s foot for good luck.

The course has intermittent cone placement and the C6 handles its well at high speeds. A keen eye reveals owners remarks in the comments section. He reveals he’s running a  2008 Vette Z06 prepared for the SCCA National SSR class and says his speed across the finish line is about 125-130 mph. The road is on the Sugarloaf Key south of Miami and when not in use as a crazy raceway, it’s a state park.

The thunder will return soon, as the 56th Annual Bay Bottom Crawl is scheduled for February 14th and 15th, 2015. Evidently it’s quite an event and draws a big crowd so you better get on it if you’d like to attend.
