Slot car racing is a favorite past time among many car enthusiasts. We have fond memories of ripping little electric cars in all shapes and sizes around sometimes huge tracks, or going too fast into a corner and sending your racer airborne. While we don’t see slot car racing making a comeback anytime soon, that doesn’t diminish the nostalgia we have for this childish past time.

And we’re not the only ones. Autoblog reports that slot car track builders Slot Mods has put together a legendary-looking circuit built on top of the body of a 1969 Camaro painted in the iconic Sunoco livery.

Yup, that is exactly what it looks like; a ‘69 Chevrolet Camaro converted into a slot car track. The car/race course was commissioned by Bobby Rahal. Rahal, as you might know, is a very successful former race car driver and team owner, and he apparently shares our fondness for old school slot car racing.

So much so that he recruited Slot Mods, a company known for its museum-quality recreations of famous race tracks on a slot car scale. In the past they have done a Porsche 917 into a race track, but this time they got their domestic car on with a classic ‘69 Camaro done up in the famous Sunoco livery of Roger Penske’s driving team.

This particular slot car Camaro wears Bob Donahue’s #6, and its obvious who Rahal was rooting for back in the day. Definitely a cool car to have and play with. Are there any other old Chevys you would want to convert into slot cars?
