Video: A 1937 Packard Twelve With The Blues On The Auction Block

Holding their place in automotive history, Packard was the gold standard for Americans when searching for the best luxury vehicles. Our friends over at ” target=”_blank”>RK Motors Charlotte have done it once again; restoring and auctioning an immaculate 1937 Packard Twelve.1937-Packard-Twelve_297779_low_res

What is 1 of 1,300 Packard Twelves produced in 1937, this car is also believed to be 1 of only 69 ’37 Packard Twelve Coupe Roadsters. Offering top notch luxury aesthetics, this Regatta Blue Packard holds much elegance even against cars of today.

Considered the ‘Boss of the Road’ during its heyday, this Packard Twelve has stood the test of time, becoming a rare gem in the process. Touted as a massive convertible, the Twelve represent the definitive pinnacle of pre-war automotive luxury.

Its towering radiator shell, bullet-shaped headlights, chrome grille, flowing, skirted fenders, and their ‘Cormorant’ hood ornament can’t be replicated, even in today’s automotive spectrum. The Twelve was one of the fastest automobiles money could buy during its time.

Under the hood is a 473 cubic-inch L-head V12, which is mated to a three-speed synchromesh manual transmission. One thing that was changed with this Packard is the independent front suspension, a hydraulic brake system and 16-inch steelie wheels all the way around.

Regarded as one of the most driver-friendly cars of the Classic Era of automobiles, this Packard Twelve holds its value not for its features but its sheer genius for its time period. What has an exotic presence in any setting today, this Packard Twelve is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.

What are your thoughts? Would you keep it all original or change it up a bit? Is the $499,900 price tag worth it for this classic gem? Let us know in the comments below.
