This 1966 Cadillac Is Hiding A Big Secret

The 1966 Cadillac Coupe De Ville is a certified land yacht measuring nearly 19 feet long and weighing in at over 4,600 pounds. These cars came from the factory equipped with either a 429 or 472 cubic-inch big block that helped send them down the road. Well, the team at Legacy EV took one of these battleships and turned it into an impressive electrical vehicle.

Legacy EV has done some impressive EV conversions, including EV-swapping a hot rod during the SEMA show in 2023. The EV conversion they put together for this Cadillac is interesting because of the sheer amount of power needed to move this beastly vehicle. This conversion is super stealth, you can’t even tell this isn’t an ICE-powered Cadillac until the hood has been raised.

So, what did Legacy EV stuff under the hood of the Cadillac? Well, the car is powered by three NetGain HyPer 9 motors that crank out 292.2 kW (394 hp) and over 1,000 lb-ft of torque. That’s the wild thing about EVs, they make insane amounts of torque that’s available as soon as you mash the gas. The NetGain HyPer 9 motors are fed juice from an NMC lithium-ion battery. The Cadillac has an estimated range of 125 miles, but the smiles-per-mile this car provides is far greater.

EV conversions aren’t for everyone, but it’s good to see that there are options out there for those who want a high-performance electric vehicle. You’ll want to watch the video created by Rob Ward where he breaks down everything that went into creating this killer Cadillac.
