Are you ready for a new kind of drag racing party? If you’re anywhere near North Carolina this week, Sick The Magazine launches its brand-new event, Sick At The Rock, at the legendary Rockingham Dragway, promising a wild atmosphere filled with some seriously quick cars.
From April 10th to 12th, prepare to witness hundreds of America’s quickest real street cars descend on “The Rock.” You’ll see drivers push their machines on the strip, survive a mandatory street cruise, and return to race again, all battling for a share of over $30,000 in prize money. Keep your eyes peeled for some big names joining the fray – Street Outlaws’ Jeff Lutz plans to pilot his “Mad Max” Camaro, and Mike Finnegan aims to unleash his iconic ’55 Chevy, “Blasphemi” as well. You’ll also see recent Sick Week drag-and-drive champions Graham Hayes and Devin Vanderhoof fighting for the win in their classes.
The excitement doesn’t stop when the drag-and-drive cars hit the road on Friday afternoon. As evening falls, get ready for the sheer power of the “Pro Mods At The Rock” class under the lights. You can expect these incredible machines to cover the eighth mile in the three-second range at speeds well over 200 mph, providing a thrilling spectacle alongside the street car action. Adding even more variety to the weekend, Sick The Magazine included five additional race classes inspired by the popular NMCA/NMRA series.
Throughout Friday and Saturday, you can catch competitors battling in Street Race 8.60, Small Tire Pro Stock, Coyote Stock, the Nostalgia Super Stock – Muscle Car Combo, and Open Comp categories. These classes compete for a separate $20,000 prize pool. Sick At The Rock shapes up as a unique event combining the endurance test of drag-and-drive with the explosive power of Pro Mods and the diverse fields of class racing.
If you love the energy of grassroots drag racing events and seeing incredibly fast street-legal cars pushed to their limits, this inaugural show at Rockingham offers a packed weekend. Check the Sick The Magazine website for the full schedule and rules if you’re interested in being a part of the show.
