Ram just dropped major warranty news that’s sure to grab the attention of diesel truck fans and work truck buyers alike. Starting with the 2026 model year, Ram will offer a 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty across its full-size diesel and gasoline truck and van lineup—including 1500, 2500/3500 Heavy Duty, 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cab, Power Wagon, RHO, and ProMaster models sold in the United States. It does not include EVs.
Ram is calling it America’s Best Full-size Truck and Van Limited Powertrain Warranty, and for the original owner, that’s not just marketing—it’s the real deal. This matches Hyundai’s warranty, but Hyundai doesn’t play in the full-size truck space. The only manufacturer that’s better is VinFast (10-year/125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and 10-year/unlimited-mile battery), but does that count?

Ram Brand Announces America’s Best Full-size Truck and Van Limited Powertrain Warranty — 10 Years/100k Miles
Until now, Ram had offered a 5-year/100,000-mile “diesel engine transferable powertrain” warranty for its Cummins Heavy Duty and a 5-year/60,000-mile “transferrable powertrain” warranty for the gasoline variant. For context, Chevy and GMC offer these same diesel warranties (with Ford offering a 5-year/100,000-mile “transferrable diesel engine” warranty that does not mention powertrain). Chevy, GMC, and Ford also offer the 5-year/60,000-mile transferrable powertrain warranty for their gasoline HDs.

Ram Brand Announces America’s Best Full-size Truck and Van Limited Powertrain Warranty — 10 Years/100k Miles
This new Ram warranty extends coverage from 5 years to 10 years (diesel) and from 5 years to 10 years and 60,000 miles to 100,000 miles (gas HD/all light-duty full-size truck) for the original buyer—a major vote of confidence in long-term reliability.
However, there’s one big catch: the warranty is non-transferrable. If you’re the second owner, you’re back to the usual 5-year/100,000-mile (diesel) warranty or 5-year/60,000-mile (gas) warranty.

Ram Brand Announces America’s Best Full-size Truck and Van Limited Powertrain Warranty — 10 Years/100k Miles
In a world where nearly 80% of new truck loans are over 60 months, according to Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, this move makes sense.
“Everything is more expensive, and trucks are certainly no exception. Truck buyers are financing purchases for longer periods of time… Our customers are making a long-term investment in Ram, and with America’s Best Full-size Truck Limited Powertrain Warranty, Ram is making a stronger and longer commitment to our customers.”
For diesel truck enthusiasts and pros who plan to buy new and keep their trucks for the long haul, this warranty could provide significant peace of mind. The coverage includes engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, axles, and differentials—all the heavy-duty components that matter most when you’re towing, hauling, and playing hard.
Leases and retail purchases from individuals and businesses are included (fleet sales are excluded). So whether you’re buying a Ram 2500 Cummins for work or a Power Wagon for off-road adventure, you’re covered—as long as you’re the first registered owner.
This announcement is just one part of 25 new product reveals Ram plans over the next 18 months. If this warranty is any indication, Ram is leaning into long-term customer value as a way to stand out in the fiercely competitive HD truck market.
