ProCharged C8 Corvette Gets Ready To Hit The Dyno

ProCharger has been teasing us for a while now with the introduction of its new centrifugal supercharger system for the C8 Corvette. And while we’ve seen and heard their test cars in action, we haven’t got a good look at the kit or installation. However, we know one kit, that made it to a well-known Procharger dealer installer.

Our first sighting of a ProCharger system being installed on a C8 happened just a few days ago at Redline Motorsports in sunny Pompano Beach, Florida, which is no surprise. Redline specializes in modern muscle car builds and was quick to jump on the C8 Corvette when it became available. And in this video, we get a glimpse of ProCharger’s new kit going on the company’s test car.

From the video, it looks like the supercharger system is pretty straightforward when it comes to installation. However, this short video may not tell the tale, which is why we reached out to Howard Tanner, owner of Redline Motorsports, to get a behind-the-scenes look at any challenges they might have had and what he thinks about the kit. Tanner said, “Procharger did a great job in working the nuances of a mid-engine design versus traditional front-engine applications. Transferring the power from the front of the engine to the back is a tricky job on already limited space. But, the design works and fits as it belongs.”

The installation video was only a minute long, so we were curious about how involved adding the ProCharger to the mid-engine C8 was. Tanner said, “The installation is a solid 16 hours, taking your time. Many lines need attention to be relocated appropriately to avoid issues. And working in a mid-engine engine bay is a contortionist act as you don’t want to damage the car. Also, if you have the high wing option, you need some long arms.” Tanner also said that if you have experience with ProCharger installations, that this kit makes sense.

At the end of the video, the guys back the C8 into the dyno room. However, they don’t have all of the numbers yet. “We will have all of the data over the next couple of weeks,” Tanner explained. “Currently, we are refining fuel and timing-related controls.”

We will keep you posted on the outcome of this new system as soon as Redline finishes up the installation.
