In racing, it’s tough to make partnerships work. Even the most successful of unions rarely last more than a season or two. However, this has not been the case for the Iowa’s Chad Simpson and Brinkman Motorsports.
The talented racer has been paired with car owners – Bud and Denise Brinkman – for 14 years. Sadly, that will come to an end at the conclusion of the 2018 season as the veteran car owners have made the tough decision to step away from the sport.

“I appreciate everything they have done for my racing career and my family,” Chad said in a recent statement. “Bud and Denise have given me all of the tools to succeed, so that our team could win races and championships. They truly are great people and have a wonderful family and I can’t thank them enough. I am excited for this final season with Brinkman Motorsports – hopefully it’s a memorable one – and then I’ll focus on what the following years may bring, as I am currently looking for another opportunity to keep competing at a high level in this sport.
“I am not done racing by any means and I want to reiterate that I am looking forward to racing for many years to come!”
Chad first started racing in 1993, where he tested the waters of the Go-Kart ranks. He would make the move to full-bodied Stock Cars in 2000.
In 2004 – just four years after beginning his racing career in full-bodied cars – Simpson joined forces with Brinkman Motorsports in 2004.
Along the way the partnership has paid big dividends. Chad has collected eleven series championships, dozens of wins, and most notably a triumph with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway in 2015.
Chad concluded by noting, “They (Brinkmans) have had a lot of fun at the racetrack over the years and enjoyed racing with me, but they are ready to do other things in life and I can’t blame them.”
Chad is scheduled to kick off his 25th year of racing – and his final season with Brinkman Motorsports – on March 30-31 at Tony Izzo Jr’s LaSalle Speedway during the seventh annual Fall Brawl.
