Simplifying Gauge Clusters: Dakota Digital’s EFI Interface Modules

If you’re working on an LS swap project, chances are your build includes a mix of aftermarket engine electronics, sensors, and gauges—all of which need to communicate with one another. One of the more frustrating challenges during an LS swap is integrating your aftermarket EFI system with a modern gauge cluster. While OEM systems are engineered to “just work,” custom builds typically require a deeper dive into wiring and data communication. Fortunately, Dakota Digital has stepped up to make this process far easier with their expanding lineup of EFI interface modules.

Dakota Digital has been developing plug-and-play solutions to streamline communication between engine control units and their popular gauge clusters. Their first EFI interface module launched several years ago and has since evolved into a family of application-specific modules. These were developed in direct response to feedback from builders who were struggling to get accurate readouts from their LS engines using Dakota Digital’s direct-fit gauge clusters.

Instead of manually wiring every individual sensor—such as tach, coolant temp, or oil pressure—these modules allow you to plug directly into your EFI control module and pull the data already being monitored by your ECU. The module then transmits that information digitally to your gauge cluster, eliminating guesswork and messy wiring.

The newly released BIM-01-2-HAL and BIM-01-2-ACES are the latest additions to Dakota Digital’s EFI integration lineup, designed specifically for Haltech Elite and ACES EFI systems. These modules come with their own dedicated sub-harnesses, allowing for an effortless connection to the ECU. Best of all, the ACES module preserves full functionality of the ACES handheld controller, so you don’t have to sacrifice tuning or diagnostics capabilities.

Dakota Digital's extensive catalog of direct-fit gauge clusters is ever expanding. Popular applications, like the '90-'92 F-Body and '88-'94 GM truck clusters here, can now talk to Haltech Elite and ACES engine modules thanks to Dakota Digital's EFI interface modules.

Depending on the EFI system and application, these modules can transmit a wide range of data, including RPM, vehicle speed, coolant temperature, oil and fuel pressure, fuel level, boost pressure, air/fuel ratio, intake air temp, transmission temp, and gear position. Previous modules support platforms like Holley EFI and Sniper 2, FiTech, AEM, Edelbrock, FAST XFI, MegaSquirt, and MSD Atomic—making Dakota Digital a one-stop solution for digital gauge integration across nearly every major EFI brand.

Whether you’re building a Pro Touring muscle car or a retro-modded truck, Dakota Digital’s EFI modules take the headache out of modern gauge wiring—bringing factory-like functionality to even the wildest LS swaps.
