Listen To the 2023 Corvette Z06 Flat-Plane Street Engine

There are events throughout time when you can’t help but remember exactly where you were and what was happening when they occurred. This may well be one of them.

Seemingly, everyone has been anticipating the next-best-Vette to roll out of Chevrolet’s Bowling Green Assembly plant. It’s almost like they have been taunting us for months with camo-laden variants of the car we ALL knew they were building. But, as we’ve said before, all the camo and black and white print can’t hide that smooth-firing song from a flat-plane crankshaft.

We’ve all heard the C8.Rs tearing up the track, but this short video released from Chevrolet shows this car on both the track as well as the street. The Z06 is almost HERE!

We all know how a flat-plane crank’d engine likes to rev, and the C8’s long, sleek, mid-engine design almost begs to unleash such a glorious sound. There have been plenty of videos showing cars assumed to be the Z06, and many were actually out in the wild and on public roads. Problem is, there isn’t much exhaust note when the engine is just off idle.

In this new video just released by Chevrolet, the engine enjoys a romp well above idle, and that flat plane comes into its own. Rumors speak of this engine being the dual-overhead cammed LT6, a modern, high-tech equivalent to the earlier LT5 engines which found their way into the C4’s ZR1s. Of course, there’s also plenty of pontificating about this engine being lovingly wrapped in a wide-body variant of the C8 Corvette, and we’re okay with that too!

The video states the car we hear will be the 2023 Z06, so we won’t have to wait too long for us mere mortals to enjoy it. The video also states the car will be revealed this fall, so those Christmas wish books are going to get a solid workout this year! This short 23-second video has sent all Amazon’s servers gasping for coolant and the hits just keep on coming!

There are short sound bits recorded both on track and on the street, so we know this one isn’t coming from one of the C8.Rs. And, the engine sounds like it’s revving to the moon. Check out this video and let us know in the comments below just how high you think this new iteration of GM’s small-block Chevy is turning. We may all be surprised.
